Jim came to Guam in 2016. His first major project was the rebuilding of the K57 tower at Yona, the tallest tower on the island at 430 feet. In the latter part of 2016, he undertook the creation of new facilities for SMG in the Acanta Mall in Tumon. Our radio and television stations moved to Acanta in mid-2017. Jim has also helped move our stations into the digital age, introducing new technologies and updated workflows built upon a modern plant infrastructure. Jim became a licensed amateur radio operator at age 13 with the novice call sign of WN6JBS. He is currently licensed as KA7GZC. Jim earned his FCC First Class Radiotelephone License at age 17 and immediately began working as a broadcast engineer. He has been a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers since 1979 and is currently a Senior Member of the Society.
